Redner's Market - What A Greyt Idea!
On Sunday, September 12, 2010, NGAP adopters Mike and Eileen Saks and Caroline Vogt staged a Meet & Greet outside of Redner's Market in Levittown, PA. But this was no normal Meet & Greet! Redner's permitted our volunteers to hand out flyers to their shoppers as they entered the store. On the flyer was a list of suggested items that shoppers could purchase and then donate to our organization. The list contained consumables that we use and have to buy all the time. Although they went armed with 200 flyers, Mike tells us that they could have easily handed out 500 flyers based on the number of people that went in! They actually had to recycle some of the flyers previously given out! We ended up with 247 individual donations which we certainly use the most, such as 90 rolls of paper towels and 42 quarts of bleach. All of the items donated are things that we have to buy on a regular basis.
This event generated a wonderful response from the community and was so easy to do! Please consider approaching the manager at your local upscale food market about doing a similar event in your area. It's just a few hours of your time andit really helps us out. You'll have such a good feeling when you're done!
A special thanks to Mike and Eileen Saks and Caroline Vogt for coordinating such a wonderful event!
